Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
A 16-year-old Class 12 student from Mokalwas village in Gurugram was found dead in a 15-foot-deep pond near the village crematorium days after she went missing, in what police suspect to be a case of suicide. The girl had left her house late on February 11 and was last seen on CCTV footage. A missing complaint had been lodged, and the family had even announced a reward of ₹1 lakh for information about her whereabouts.
According to police officials, CCTV cameras captured the teenager leaving her home after dinner. She had reportedly gone to her room to study but left without informing her family. Her school uniform was also found missing from her room, raising concerns during the search.
During the investigation, police recovered a diary in which the girl had written a note asking her family not to look for her and indicating that she could be found near the cremation ground pond. In another note, she sought forgiveness from her parents, writing, “Mom and Dad, please forgive me. I am going to my grandfather.”
Acting on the clue, a police team reached the pond on Friday evening with divers and four tractor-mounted pumps. It took nearly 12 hours to drain the water from the deep pond. As the water level receded, the body was found stuck in the mud, officials said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the girl was wearing her school uniform at the time of death. After an autopsy conducted under Section 193 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, the body was handed over to the family. Police said efforts are ongoing to trace her mobile phone and determine the circumstances that led to the suspected suicide.
