The budget session of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation witnessed intense uproar following a controversial remark linked to the Shruti crematorium issue. The disruption began while Councillor Tarak Singh was presenting his statement, when a heated exchange suddenly erupted between two councillors, disrupting proceedings in the House.
The controversy escalated after councillor Mahesh Sharma allegedly remarked that “Meena Purohit should be taken to that crematorium.” The comment drew immediate protest from Meena Purohit, who termed it an insult to a woman and demanded an apology on the floor of the House. The sharp exchange further intensified tensions during the civic body’s budget session.
