Former West Bengal BJP President Dilip Ghosh has officially addressed the buzz surrounding his wife, Rinku Majumdar, and her aspiration to contest in the upcoming assembly elections. Speaking during his morning walk at Eco Park on Thursday, Ghosh clarified that Rinku is not just his spouse but a veteran party worker who has been active in the BJP longer than he has. He emphasized that, like thousands of other dedicated workers, she has the right to apply for a ticket, and the final decision rests entirely with the party leadership.
Rinku Majumdar reportedly submitted her bio-data at the BJP’s Salt Lake office on January 31, expressing interest in three specific constituencies: Medinipur City, Bijpur, and Newtown. In her CV, she highlighted her extensive grassroots work and long-standing social involvement. A former resident of Shapoorji, Rinku has lived in Newtown since 2013 and has remained committed to the party's organizational work despite personal tragedies, including the loss of her son.
Rinku herself has been vocal about her political identity, asserting that she is more than just "Mrs. Ghosh." She pointed out that her journey with the party predates her marriage and that her primary goal remains serving the people through active governance. By submitting her candidacy, she aims to transition from a behind-the-scenes organizer to a representative who can win and lead on a larger platform.
