BSF jawan PK Shaw reinstated, Suvendu Adhikari thanks Amit Shah

Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, on Thursday expressed happiness over the reinstatement of BSF jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw, who has been allowed to rejoin service following a detailed review of his case. Sharing the update on social media, Adhikari said Shaw would rejoin the 24th Battalion of the Border Security Force with immediate effect.

According to Adhikari, Shaw was taken into custody by the Pakistani Army on April 23 last year. He was later brought back safely through the efforts of the Indian Army and the central government. However, in line with established military rules and procedures, he was not reinstated immediately after his return.

Adhikari stated that Shaw’s petition was examined thoroughly and his long and exemplary service record was taken into account before a decision was made to restore him to his previous position. He described the move as a recognition of the sacrifices made by personnel guarding the nation’s borders.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the people of West Bengal, Adhikari thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his intervention and commitment to justice. He said such actions strengthen the morale of the forces and reaffirm the government’s support for those protecting the country’s frontiers, concluding his message with “Jai Hind.”
