'Bomb-making only thriving industry in Bengal': BJP seeks NIA probe over Purulia blast

Senior BJP leader Amit Malviya on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the West Bengal government following a massive explosion and fire in the Kapur Bagan area of Ward No. 21 in Purulia. In a post on social media, Malviya alleged that under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s rule, “bomb-making has become the only thriving industry,” and demanded accountability for the incident.

According to Malviya, the explosion left residents shaken and in deep panic. Citing local inputs, he claimed that illegal bomb manufacturing was reportedly taking place at the site. Three people are said to be battling for their lives following the blast.

The BJP leader said that the people of Purulia deserve clear answers and accountability. He added that BJP MP Jyotirmay Singh Mahato has demanded a probe by the National Investigation Agency to uncover the full truth behind the explosion and determine responsibility.

Malviya further questioned whether Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who also holds the Home portfolio, would evade the issue under the guise of technicalities. Emphasising that public safety cannot be compromised, he asserted that those responsible must be identified and brought to justice.
