With winter gradually receding, weather conditions across West Bengal are showing signs of change. The maximum temperature in Kolkata has already crossed 30°C, though a mild chill continues to be felt during the early morning hours. The shift has sparked curiosity about how the weather will unfold over the coming days.
According to the Alipore Meteorological Department, Kolkata’s maximum temperature on Friday is expected to hover around 30°C, while the minimum may remain close to 20°C. Over the next two days, districts in South Bengal could witness a rise of two to three degrees Celsius. Thereafter, no significant fluctuation in temperature is likely for the following three days.
In North Bengal, the districts of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar are likely to experience a higher probability of fog. However, there is no forecast of dense fog in any district of South Bengal. The department has also indicated the possibility of light rainfall at one or two places in Purba Medinipur district on February 24.
On Friday, Kolkata recorded a minimum temperature of 19.2°C, which is 0.3 degrees below normal. The previous day’s maximum temperature stood at 30.6°C, 0.6 degrees above normal. The maximum humidity level was recorded at 78 percent, while the minimum was 33 percent. In the coming days, temperatures in both Kolkata and North Bengal districts are expected to rise slightly without major fluctuations.
