A joint operation by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Siliguri Metropolitan Police and Bhakti Nagar Police Station led to the arrest of three individuals with 451 grams of brown sugar in Siliguri on Thursday night. Police also seized ₹19,000 in cash and a motorcycle bearing a Sikkim registration number from their possession.
The arrested accused have been identified as Jahedulla Momin, Iftarul, and Ram Kumar Mandal. According to police, Jahedulla Momin and Iftarul had arrived near Indira Gandhi Maidan on a Sikkim-registered motorcycle carrying the contraband, which they were allegedly planning to deliver to Ram Kumar Mandal. Acting on suspicion, the joint team intercepted and detained them before the delivery could take place.
During a search operation, officers recovered 451 grams of brown sugar from a bag in their possession. A case has been registered against the trio under the provisions of the NDPS Act, and they have been taken into custody. Police said a detailed investigation is underway to trace the source and possible network linked to the seized narcotics.
