Agencies flag large-scale infiltration from Bangladesh ahead of Bengal polls

Authorities have been alerted after intelligence inputs warned of a coordinated cross-border infiltration attempt ahead of upcoming elections in West Bengal. The alert, issued to both central and state governments, indicates a planned effort to send illegal immigrants across the border to create unrest and long-term demographic impact in sensitive areas.

According to the inputs, Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence has allegedly tasked Jamaat-e-Islami with coordinating operations along border regions. Surveillance has intensified around Satkhira and Chuadanga, which share borders with North 24 Parganas and Nadia respectively. Officials claim infiltrators are being sent in small groups disguised as ordinary civilians rather than armed militants.

Sources said individuals are allegedly being identified from camps in Cox's Bazar and moved toward the border in multiple batches. Intelligence agencies suspect logistical support networks are being activated to help them settle quietly in selected localities while avoiding detection.

Following the inputs, security has been tightened across vulnerable districts including Murshidabad. The Border Security Force and local police have been placed on high alert and monitoring has been intensified along the international border.
