A late-night speeding incident turned fatal on Saturday under the jurisdiction of Jagatballavpur Police Station after a motorcycle lost control and crashed into a roadside tree on the Patihal–Fatikgachhi Road. The impact of the collision was so severe that the bike was completely wrecked. The rider, identified as Saurabh Adak, died on the spot, while another youth riding pillion sustained critical injuries and is undergoing treatment.
According to eyewitnesses, the two young men were travelling at a very high speed when the rider suddenly lost control of the motorcycle. The vehicle veered off the road and rammed directly into a tree standing by the roadside. The loud crash alerted nearby residents, who rushed out of their homes and found the bike mangled and the victims lying on the ground.
Saurabh Adak suffered severe head and multiple body injuries and succumbed at the scene due to excessive bleeding. The injured pillion rider was shifted for medical care and remains in critical condition. Police have taken custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. An investigation into the incident is underway.
