Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
A mother and her son were allegedly assaulted in Baguihati in the early hours of Sunday after she objected to a group of men drinking alcohol and using obscene language outside her house. The incident, which occurred around 3 a.m. near the Loknath Temple area of Jagatpur, has triggered anger and fear among local residents. Police have registered a named FIR and launched a search for the accused, who are currently absconding.
According to reports, four young men were allegedly consuming alcohol and shouting abusive language loudly in front of the residence of Anita Das. Disturbed by the late-night commotion, she stepped out and asked them to leave the area and maintain decency. Her objection reportedly enraged the group.
The accused allegedly began verbally abusing her before physically attacking her. Anita Das was reportedly pushed to the ground and kicked and punched on the road. Hearing her cries, her son Atanu Das rushed to intervene but was also thrown to the ground and severely beaten by the assailants.
Following the assault, the accused fled the scene. The family approached Baguihati police station on Sunday seeking justice. Police have named Subhash Kundu, Shanku, Habu and one unidentified person in the FIR. Raids are being conducted at possible hideouts, and CCTV footage from the area is being examined to trace their movements.
Residents of the locality have expressed deep concern over recurring incidents of late-night drinking and unruly behaviour in residential areas. They have demanded increased night patrols and strict action against those creating disturbances in public spaces.
