“Bhaiya gone, Didi’s turn next,” says Rekha Gupta ahead of Bengal polls

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday launched a sharp attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, saying “Bhaiya has been chased away” and it is now “Didi’s turn”. The remark, also aimed at AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, came during her visit to Kolkata ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.

Gupta accused both leaders of branding public welfare schemes with their own names. She said public money should be used for public good and questioned the need to personalise government initiatives. Claiming that the Centre sends substantial funds for Bengal’s development, she asked whether the benefits were reaching the poor and where the money had gone.

Targeting the law and order situation, Gupta said Bengal’s daughters were not safe despite having a woman Chief Minister. She asserted that such conditions would not be tolerated elsewhere and claimed that the people of Bengal deserve to live with dignity.

With Mamata Banerjee seeking a fourth consecutive term and the BJP intensifying its campaign, Gupta said the end of “terrorism, hooliganism and greed” was near. She alleged that Banerjee could not suppress public voice and declared that change was imminent in the state.
