BJP alleges communal assault in Kalasima, targets TMC over law and order

Political tensions escalated in parts of West Bengal after the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party alleged that a Hindu boy was beaten by a mob in Kalasima, located in North 24 Parganas. The claim was made in a post on social media platform X on February 23, 2026.

In its post, the BJP alleged that the mob was led by a local leader of the ruling TMC and accused the police of remaining silent during the incident. The party described the situation as a breakdown of law and order, claiming that residents were being forced to take matters into their own hands due to administrative inaction. Following the allegations, Hindu-owned shops in the area were reportedly shut in protest, while roads were blocked, leading to heightened tension in Kalasima and surrounding localities. Visuals and messages shared online suggested growing unrest, though official details from the administration were not immediately available.

The BJP also questioned the role of the state government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, demanding accountability and protection for citizens. There was no immediate response from the state government or police authorities regarding the allegations at the time of reporting.
