Security tightened across Delhi Metro stations after series of bomb threat emails

Security has been tightened across all Delhi Metro Rail Corporation stations and major installations in the national capital after a series of bomb threat emails were received on Monday. Officials said the threats prompted extensive security checks, though all were later declared hoaxes.

Multiple locations, including the Delhi Secretariat, Delhi Legislative Assembly, Red Fort and two schools, received emails warning of explosions. Police conducted thorough searches at each site and confirmed that no suspicious objects were found.

According to senior police officials, cyber teams are attempting to trace the IP addresses used to send the emails. Investigators believe the miscreants used Virtual Private Networks to mislead authorities. Despite the threats being hoaxes, police decided to maintain heightened security as a precautionary measure.

Following specific threats mentioning metro services, additional forces were deployed at all metro stations, with anti-sabotage checks, random frisking and intensified CCTV monitoring. Teams from the bomb disposal squad and dog squad were stationed at sensitive locations, while coordination meetings were held with metro officials and neighbouring states to ensure preparedness across the wider network.
