Rinku Singh leaves T20 World Cup camp as father battles stage-4 liver cancer

India middle-order batter Rinku Singh has returned home from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup camp following a serious medical emergency in his family. Sources indicate that his father is suffering from stage-4 liver cancer and is currently on ventilator support, prompting the cricketer to leave the team environment to be with his family. Rinku, who is part of India’s squad for the tournament, departed on Tuesday. At present, there is no official clarity on whether he will rejoin the squad later in the competition, with the team management closely monitoring the situation. An official update is awaited.

The left-handed batter has grown into an important figure in India’s white-ball setup in recent years, earning praise for his calm finishing ability under pressure. However, his current World Cup campaign has been a mixed one. Rinku has scored 24 runs in five innings, remaining unbeaten twice, with a best of 11*. In 10 T20Is this year, he has amassed 115 runs in eight innings at an average of 28.75 and a strike rate of 132.18, with a top score of 44*.
