Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
Metro services on Kolkata Metro’s Blue Line were disrupted during peak hours on Wednesday, leaving commuters stranded across multiple stations. Trains came to a halt one after another, and several passengers complained of long waits with no clear information initially provided. Many said that even when trains arrived, they failed to depart on time due to technical issues, causing widespread inconvenience.
The disruption began after 11:30 am, with problems intensifying around noon. A commuter at Girish Park station said he had been waiting for 15 minutes without any train arriving. Passengers alleged that there were no immediate announcements explaining the delay, leading to confusion and frustration on crowded platforms.
Later, announcements at stations informed commuters that services were running late due to a signal problem at Girish Park. A passenger travelling from Dum Dum to Chandni Chowk claimed that the 12:05 pm train departed at least five minutes behind schedule. He further alleged that the train moved unusually slowly and halted for several minutes at each station along the route.
Passengers on preceding and subsequent trains reported similar experiences, with frequent stoppages and extended delays. Some commuters alleged that such disruptions have become frequent on the Blue Line, raising concerns about reliability during peak office hours. Services gradually normalised, though inconvenience persisted for several passengers.
