"Kolkata to get Water Metro connectivity," says Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday declared that eliminating infiltration would be the first priority of a BJP government in West Bengal if the party comes to power in the upcoming Assembly elections. Addressing a programme of the Sashastra Seema Bal in Araria district of Bihar, he asserted that “every single infiltrator will be driven out of the state” once the BJP forms the government.
Speaking in the border district of Araria, part of Bihar’s sensitive Seemanchal region adjoining West Bengal and Nepal, Shah said infiltration poses a serious threat to national security and disrupts the demographic balance of border areas. He stated that the process of identifying and expelling infiltrators would begin from Seemanchal, underscoring the region’s strategic importance.
Targeting political opponents, Shah said the BJP had faced criticism for raising the issue during previous Assembly elections, yet received a strong public mandate. He added that infiltrators “illegally capture the country’s resources and ration,” and such activities would not be tolerated under a BJP government.
Referring to the West Bengal Assembly elections scheduled later this year, Shah expressed confidence that the BJP would come to power. He emphasized that states such as West Bengal, Assam, Bihar and Jharkhand are particularly sensitive to demographic changes and said the Modi government remains committed to maintaining balance and safeguarding national interests.
