The 45th Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) foiled an attempt to smuggle cattle in Supaul district of Bihar and arrested three individuals during a patrol operation on March 2. Acting on specific intelligence, personnel under the Narpatpatti Border Outpost in Birpur intercepted a suspicious pickup vehicle and seized nine cattle, including eight cows and one calf.
According to officials, reliable inputs had indicated possible cattle smuggling within the jurisdiction of the Narpatpatti Border Outpost. Based on the alert, a special patrolling team was constituted. During the operation near Spur No. 1775, the team noticed a pickup vehicle approaching under suspicious circumstances and stopped it for inspection.
Upon searching the vehicle, eight cows and one calf were found inside. The three occupants identified themselves as residents of Supaul district but failed to produce valid documents related to the cattle. They were subsequently taken into custody.
The seized cattle and the Tata pickup vehicle were confiscated, and after completing necessary legal procedures, the accused along with the recovered items were handed over to authorities at Phatak Kamaldah in Kursakanta, Araria district. Officials confirmed that further legal action is underway.
The SSB reiterated that it remains vigilant in border areas and is committed to preventing smuggling and other illegal activities. Personnel involved in the operation included Sub-Inspector Naresh Kumar and members of the patrolling team.
