A tragic road accident in the Ghoshpada More area under Phansidewa Block of Darjeeling district on Friday claimed the lives of two young men and left another critically injured. The deceased have been identified as Bappa Singh and Chhatka Ghosh, both residents of the Kalram Jote area near Ghoshpada.
According to local sources, three youths were riding on a single scooter when the accident occurred. The collision was reportedly severe, resulting in the deaths of two of the riders on the spot. The third youth on the scooter sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The incident sparked anger among local residents soon after news of the accident spread. Furious villagers staged a road blockade at Ghoshpada More in protest, disrupting traffic for nearly 30 minutes and causing long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road.
