LPG cylinder prices hiked in India amid West Asia conflict | Check city-wise rates

Domestic LPG and commercial cylinder prices in India have been revised upwards, with rates for a 14.2 kg household cylinder increasing by ₹60 from Saturday. The new Delhi price stands at ₹913, while Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai now see rates of ₹939, ₹912.50, and ₹928.50 respectively. Officials attribute the hike to rising global energy costs amid the ongoing military conflict in West Asia.

This is the second LPG price increase in less than a year, following a ₹50 rise in April 2025. Industry experts note that fluctuations in international oil and gas markets, particularly due to tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, have directly impacted domestic LPG pricing.

Beneficiaries of the Ujjwala Yojana, covering over 10 crore households, will continue to receive a subsidy of ₹300 per 14.2 kg cylinder for up to 12 refills annually, cushioning the impact on low-income consumers. The government has emphasized that the subsidy scheme remains unchanged despite the price revision.

Commercial LPG, widely used by hotels, restaurants, and other businesses, has seen an increase of ₹114.5 for a 19 kg cylinder, taking the Delhi price to ₹1,883. The commercial rate had already seen a smaller ₹28 hike on March 1, indicating a sustained rise in energy costs affecting both households and enterprises.

The revised prices vary across states depending on local taxes and VAT, reflecting regional differences. Officials have stressed that such adjustments are linked to global market dynamics and are necessary to maintain the supply of LPG amidst geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
