The weather in West Bengal is expected to change from Sunday as a cyclonic circulation has formed over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Odisha. According to the Alipore Meteorological Department, the system is likely to bring spells of rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning across several parts of the state during the coming days.
Officials said dry weather is likely to continue across the state until Saturday, with a slight rise in minimum temperatures over the next two days. However, the maximum temperature is not expected to witness any significant change during this period. From Sunday onwards, light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is expected in several districts. Gusty winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kmph may also accompany the showers. Rainfall is likely to intensify across both South Bengal and North Bengal from Monday.
On Sunday, districts such as Jhargram and East and West Midnapore may receive rain with thundershowers. From Monday, rainfall is likely in East and West Midnapore, East and West Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad, Nadia and Hooghly. The chances of rain will increase further on Tuesday in North and South 24 Parganas, Nadia and the Midnapore districts. Kolkata and nearby areas may also experience light rain between Monday and Tuesday.
