The Israeli military has claimed that its airstrikes targeted Iran’s Isfahan airport, destroying several F-14 fighter jets and striking air defence systems that posed a threat to Israeli aircraft. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the operation also involved attacks on oil depots in Tehran as the conflict between the two countries continues to escalate.
In a statement posted on Telegram, the IDF said detection and air defence systems at the airport were also hit during the strike. The military described the operation as part of a broader campaign targeting Iranian military infrastructure. It added that the attack followed another strike earlier in which 16 aircraft belonging to the Quds Force were reportedly destroyed at Tehran’s Mehrabad airport.
Reports indicated that multiple locations across Iran’s Isfahan province were affected during the airstrikes. Several cities including Isfahan, Najafabad, Aran, Bidgol, Barkhar, Khomenei Shahr, Shahreza, Falavarjan and Mobarakeh were reportedly hit, with at least 11 people killed in the attacks.
In Tehran and the neighbouring province of Alborz, Israeli strikes reportedly targeted oil depots, where at least four tanker drivers were killed. The attacks come amid continuing military escalation following earlier strikes launched by the United States and Israel against Iran in late February.
The conflict has since intensified across the region, with Iran responding through missile attacks and tensions spreading to several areas in the Middle East. The ongoing confrontation has disrupted global energy markets and raised concerns about a wider regional war.
