"Smaller parties shouldn't be prioritized": Sudip Bandyopadhyay hits at TMC
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has officially announced the withdrawal of her five-day sit-in protest, stating that the "doors of justice have opened." During the announcement, she referenced her historic 26-day hunger strike during the Singur movement, drawing parallels between past struggles and the current political climate. She declared the tribunal constitution order from the Supreme Court as her victory.
In a sharp rhetorical turn, the Chief Minister criticized the Election Commission's decision to appoint an official involved in the forced land acquisition of Singur to a high-ranking post. She suggested that history has a way of repeating itself and noted that the TMC's journey to power originally gained momentum from these very grounds. Mamata emphasized that "humanity and togetherness" are divine virtues that led to their current progress.
Before leaving the protest site, she apologized to local shopkeepers and residents for the noise and inconvenience caused during the five-day stir. She concluded by announcing a visit to the Raj Bhavan to meet with C.V. Ananda Bose. She referred to the Governor’s departure as an act of "courtesy," while also hinting at the perceived injustice regarding the removal of the former Governor.
