A 60-year-old passenger died after suddenly falling ill at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata on Friday, triggering brief panic inside the airport premises. The man had arrived at the airport to board a flight to Bengaluru when the incident occurred.
According to available information, the passenger was heading towards the departure terminal around 11 a.m. when he suddenly experienced severe chest pain. Within moments, he collapsed on the floor and lost consciousness. Security personnel and the airport’s medical team immediately rushed to the spot and attempted to provide first aid.
Considering the seriousness of his condition, he was quickly taken to a private hospital on VIP Road. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival. Preliminary assessment by doctors suggests the passenger likely died due to a heart attack. Police have taken the body into custody, informed family members and initiated necessary formal procedures.
