Thousands of BJP workers and supporters from Bardhaman district, including Asansol, Durgapur, and Barak, departed late Friday night for Kolkata to attend the Brigade Parivartan Rally. Three special trains were arranged — two from Asansol and one from Durgapur — to facilitate the travel of the large number of participants. Additional supporters left on the Agni Bina Express and Sealdah-Asansol Intercity trains on Saturday morning.
BJP district president Devtanu Bhattacharya stated that the district committee had organized transport for around 12,000 people, though he noted that the total number of attendees from the district could be higher, including those traveling by private vehicles or buses. The arrangements reflect the party’s effort to ensure large-scale participation from West Bardhaman in the rally.
Bhattacharya recalled the 2021 Brigade rally addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which had drawn massive crowds. He added that just as the 2021 rally symbolized hope for change in Bengal, the 2026 gathering represents the continuing desire of West Bengal’s people for political transformation.
While a few supporters may have traveled from Jharkhand, Bhattacharya emphasized that the majority of attendees are from Bardhaman itself, and there was no significant need to bring additional supporters from outside the district. The rally is expected to see a substantial turnout, underlining the party’s organizational strength in the region.
