PM Modi’s Brigade rally draws BJP workers from remote Sundarbans islands via boat journey

Supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from remote regions of the Sundarbans began their journey early Saturday to attend the Brigade Parivartan Rally in Kolkata, addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Party workers from islands such as Sagar Island, Namkhana, and Patharpratima first crossed rivers by boat to reach the mainland, before proceeding toward the historic Brigade Parade Ground.

Due to the Sundarbans’ unique geography, waterways remain the primary mode of transport. Many supporters started traveling at dawn to ensure timely arrival at the rally. Scenes from the area showed large crowds boarding boats, carrying BJP flags, reflecting the enthusiasm and political mobilization from rural and remote parts of the state.

Supporters expressed their eagerness to attend the rally, citing corruption and mismanagement under the current state government as reasons for their political motivation. One participant said, “We are traveling by boat today because Modi ji is coming to the Brigade rally. We want to hear his speech and hope for change in 2026.” Others highlighted the unity of people from different regions and communities coming together for the event.

Prime Minister Modi’s address at the Brigade Parade Ground is expected to be among the largest political gatherings in West Bengal this year. The rally also marks the culmination of the BJP’s statewide outreach campaign ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, aimed at consolidating support across both urban and rural areas.

During his visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation for major infrastructure projects, including key national highways, aimed at improving connectivity within the state. Party leaders anticipate a massive turnout, with attendees arriving from early morning across multiple districts to witness the event.
