Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally at the Brigade Parade Ground witnessed a large turnout, drawing supporters and workers from various parts of the state. However, an incident at Howrah Station after the event created tension as many workers returning home alleged that they were forced to pay illegal charges to use public toilets at the station.
According to those present, workers arriving from distant districts were allegedly asked to pay up to ₹40 for using the public toilets. Several people protested the demand, claiming the charge was unlawful and excessive. When they objected, they reportedly faced rude behaviour from those collecting the money.
The situation quickly escalated as the aggrieved workers raised their voices in protest, leading to a major uproar at the station premises. The commotion drew the attention of railway authorities and other officials present at the busy transit hub.
After being informed about the matter, railway officials reached the spot and took immediate action. The individuals involved in the alleged extortion were reprimanded, and officials ensured that the money collected from the workers was returned.
