The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered the immediate transfer of 19 senior police officers across West Bengal. This marks the third consecutive day of administrative reshuffles since the announcement of the 2026 Assembly election schedule. The latest order targets the core of the state's field policing, removing the Superintendents of Police (SPs) in 12 districts and the Commissioners of Police (CPs) in four major industrial and urban zones: Howrah, Asansol-Durgapur, Barrackpore, and Chandannagar.
