Amid heightened election surveillance, police recovered ₹3 lakh in cash from a car coming from Assam in Alipurduar, raising suspicions over the movement of unaccounted money during the poll period. The cash was found concealed in multiple compartments of the vehicle, including the roof lining, doors, trunk, and beneath the seats. Officials intercepted the vehicle during routine checks and uncovered the hidden bundles of currency notes during a thorough search. The occupants of the car are currently being questioned to ascertain the source, purpose, and intended destination of the cash, as authorities intensify monitoring to prevent illegal cash movement during elections.
