A 29-year-old woman was killed in a horrific late-night accident after a speeding dumper rammed into an app-based bike near Sector V, police said. The victim, identified as Rimpa Dhara, fell onto the road after the impact, and the dumper ran over her head, leading to her death on the spot.
According to details, the app-based bike had been booked from Sector V to Kasba. The accident occurred while the bike was moving from the Sector V flyover towards Nicco Park, when the dumper, allegedly at high speed, lost control and crashed into it from behind. The force of the collision threw the woman off the bike onto the road.
Traffic police rushed to the spot and shifted her in a severely injured condition to Bidhannagar Sub-Divisional Hospital with the help of locals, but doctors declared her dead on arrival. The dumper driver fled the scene, and police from Electronics Complex Police Station have launched an investigation, scanning CCTV footage to trace the vehicle and identify the accused.
