Posters against TMC candidates surface in 2 Bengal districts, internal rift allegations intensify

Political tension has escalated in parts of Birbhum and Purba Bardhaman after posters and flex banners opposing official candidates of the All India Trinamool Congress surfaced ahead of the Assembly elections. The developments have raised concerns of internal discord as campaigning gains momentum.

In the Sainthia Assembly constituency, posters were spotted in areas like Ekdalia More in Purandarpur demanding that Rupa Saha be fielded instead of the officially declared candidate Nilabati Saha. Local party leaders dismissed the incident as an attempt to create confusion, alleging external interference. However, opposition leaders claimed it reflected dissatisfaction within the ruling party’s ranks.

A similar situation has emerged in the Khandaghosh Assembly constituency, where banners appeared urging voters not to support the party’s official candidate, Nabinchandra Bag. The posters carried sharp criticism, with his image marked out, indicating visible unrest among sections of party workers and supporters.

Despite the controversy, Nabinchandra Bag continued his campaign, offering prayers at a local temple and engaging in outreach activities. He dismissed the allegations and urged voters not to be misled by what he termed misinformation, claiming he was receiving a positive response from the public.

Meanwhile, the absence of key local leadership during campaign activities and statements indicating dissatisfaction among party workers have further highlighted underlying tensions. With elections approaching, these incidents point to growing challenges within party ranks even as political contest intensifies across constituencies.
