No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
Rinku Majumdar, wife of senior leader Dilip Ghosh, arrived at the party’s Salt Lake office to voice her grievances. Despite being an active member and a known face in the Mahila Morcha for years, Rinku was overlooked in the candidate list for the 2026 Assembly elections. Her frustration stems from the fact that while her husband secured a ticket, her own application for the Rajarhat-Newtown seat was rejected in favor of Piyush Kanoria.
Accompanied by her husband, Rinku met with the BJP’s central observer for West Bengal, Sunil Bansal, to formally lodge a complaint. She argued that the party failed to select the most "suitable" candidate for the constituency and asserted that her long-standing loyalty and grassroots work made her the rightful choice. Sources indicate that she had submitted her biodata for three different seats—Medinipur, Bijpur, and Newtown—showing her keen interest in contesting this election cycle.
Dilip Ghosh, maintaining a diplomatic stance, noted that thousands of workers submit their resumes with the hope of contesting, and his wife was simply one of them. He emphasized that the final decision rests entirely with the party leadership. However, Rinku’s dissatisfaction was more pointed; she highlighted her pure BJP lineage, stating that she is not a defector from the CPM or Congress and has been dedicated to the saffron camp since the start of her political career.
