Senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party, Suvendu Adhikari, visited the revered Kalighat Temple in Kolkata on Saturday morning to seek the blessings of Goddess Kali ahead of formally launching his campaign for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections 2026. Adhikari, who is the party’s candidate from the Bhawanipur constituency, offered prayers and performed rituals at the temple while seeking divine blessings for victory in the upcoming polls.
The visit took place amid heightened security arrangements within the temple premises. Authorities had deployed additional police personnel in and around the temple complex to manage the flow of devotees and ensure smooth movement during the leader’s visit.
Adhikari’s temple visit comes just ahead of the formal launch of his election campaign for the upcoming state assembly elections, where Bhabanipur is expected to be a closely watched constituency in the political contest.
