Administration on alert as SIR super final list set for March 23 evening release

The SIR ‘Super Final’ list, considered the last supplementary list before the upcoming elections, is scheduled to be released on the evening of March 23. In view of the announcement, all District Magistrates (DMs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) have been directed to maintain strict law and order across their jurisdictions to ensure the process takes place smoothly.

Officials said significant progress has been made in resolving voter-related cases under the SIR process. As of March 20, around 27.23 lakh pending voter cases had been disposed of during the ongoing verification and correction exercise. The effort is part of a large-scale administrative process aimed at finalising electoral records ahead of the polls.

Despite the progress, a substantial number of applications are still under review. According to the latest figures, nearly 33 lakh voter cases remain pending and are currently being processed by election officials. Authorities said the disposal work is continuing at a steady pace across districts.

On average, around two lakh cases are being resolved every day as officials work to clear the backlog before the release of the final supplementary list. The administration has instructed district authorities and police officials to remain vigilant and ensure that law and order is maintained during this crucial pre-election phase.
