LPG cargo from Texas reaches Mangalore as multiple oil and gas vessels arrive in India

A cargo ship carrying Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) from Texas in the United States arrived at Mangalore Port on Sunday, adding to a series of energy shipments that have reached India over the past week. The arrival comes amid continued maritime movement of crude oil and gas cargoes to meet the country’s growing energy demand.

At the same time, a vessel carrying crude oil from Russia also reached India, further strengthening fuel supplies. In the past seven days, around five ships transporting LPG and crude oil have arrived in India through the sea route, indicating a steady flow of energy imports into the country.

Earlier, on March 18, the crude oil tanker ‘Jag Ladki’ arrived at Adani Ports in Gujarat. Two other LPG carriers—MT Shivalik and MT Nanda Devi—also reached India on March 16 and 17 respectively, carrying a combined cargo of around 92,712 metric tons of gas. All three of these vessels passed through the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz during their journey.

Meanwhile, about 22 Indian ships are currently stranded in the Persian Gulf, though authorities have confirmed that all of them are safe. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the most vital maritime passages in the world, as nearly 20 percent of the global oil supply passes through this narrow shipping corridor each day.
