In Shimurali on Sunday, a family dispute took a tragic turn when a man allegedly murdered his wife with a sharp-edged weapon and attacked his sister-in-law who tried to intervene. The police have taken the accused into custody and launched an investigation into the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Titu Biswas, 27, married to Ahindra Biswas for around ten years. The couple had a daughter aged eight or nine. Reports suggest that Ahindra, a quack doctor by profession, had ongoing disputes with his wife, which escalated on Sunday morning after he returned from the market. Titu’s mother, Asima Sarkar, stated that her son-in-law had killed her daughter and said she would file a formal complaint with the police. Her father alleged that frequent arguments arose as the accused prevented Titu from communicating with her family. The sister-in-law, Aparna Biswas, recounted that she was injured while rushing to intervene during the attack.
After committing the crime, the accused fled the scene but was later apprehended by police. Authorities have sent the body for post-mortem examination, and the investigation into the case is ongoing, as the community reels from the shocking incident.
