A tragic road accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara claimed ten lives on Thursday evening when a bus collided head-on with a pick-up vehicle. The bus, carrying over 40 passengers, was returning from a public function attended by the Chief Minister. The collision occurred near Simaria on the Nagpur road, roughly 25 kilometres from the district headquarters.
Superintendent of Police Ajay Pandey confirmed that the deceased include six men, three women, and a child. More than 20 others sustained varying degrees of injuries in the impact. Local authorities and emergency services quickly deployed ambulances to transport the victims to the district hospital and nearby medical facilities for urgent care.
Senior officials, including the District Collector and the SP, are currently stationed at the hospital to monitor the situation. Kotwali station house officer Ashish Kumar noted that the rescue operation was prioritized to ensure the injured received immediate stabilization. Investigations into the cause of the collision are ongoing.
