Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
Tension escalated sharply in Bhangar on Friday morning after a bag containing multiple crude bombs was recovered from a banana grove in the Dakshin Bamunia area of Chaltaberia. The discovery comes at a sensitive time, with the region already on edge due to recent political clashes ahead of the upcoming elections. Police quickly reached the spot after being alerted by local residents and cordoned off the entire area as a precautionary measure.
According to initial information, locals noticed a suspicious bag lying inside the grove during their morning routine. Upon closer inspection, they found explosive materials inside and immediately informed the police. Officers from Bijoyganj Police Station rushed to the location and initiated a search operation to ensure no additional explosives were hidden nearby.
The incident gains further significance as it follows a series of similar recoveries and violent incidents in the same region over the past few days. Recently, a bomb explosion was reported in the area, followed by the recovery of firearms and explosives from a nearby pond. These repeated incidents have heightened fear among residents and raised serious concerns about safety and security.
Police suspect that the explosives may have been stockpiled deliberately in view of the approaching elections, possibly to create unrest or disrupt the law-and-order situation. The situation in Bhangar remains tense, especially after clashes between political workers a day earlier, with authorities maintaining strict vigil to prevent any further escalation.
