In an emotional turn of events, the family of Raja Raghuvanshi, who was allegedly murdered during his honeymoon in Meghalaya last year, has welcomed a newborn baby boy, bringing a sense of solace after months of grief. The child, born to Raja’s elder brother Sachin, has been named “Raja,” with family members believing it signifies his return.
Raja’s mother, Uma Raghuvanshi, expressed deep emotion, saying, “My son has returned once again.” The family pointed to a striking coincidence—Raja was killed on ‘Gyaras’ (Ekadashi), the eleventh day of the lunar fortnight, and the newborn was also born on the same day. This timing has reinforced their belief that the child is a divine blessing and a symbolic rebirth within the family.
The development comes in the backdrop of a case that had shocked the nation. Raja Raghuvanshi, a businessman from Indore, was allegedly killed in May last year in Meghalaya’s Sohra region while on his honeymoon. He and his wife had travelled to Shillong before heading to Sohra, where they were reported missing days later, triggering a large-scale search operation.
After several days of search efforts, Raja’s body was recovered from a deep gorge near Wei Sawdong Falls. Investigators later alleged that his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, along with her partner and three others, conspired to murder him during the trip. All five accused were subsequently arrested, and the case remains under legal proceedings.
Amid the ongoing investigation and legal battle, the birth of the child has brought a rare moment of emotional relief to the grieving family. While the legal process continues, the family’s belief in the child’s symbolic connection to Raja reflects their attempt to find meaning and healing after a tragic loss.
