The election process for the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026 has gathered momentum, with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee set to file her nomination from the Bhabanipur constituency on April 8. She is expected to lead a public rally from Kalighat Bridge to the Survey Building, turning the nomination filing into a major political show of strength.
According to the schedule, Banerjee will conclude her campaign in North Bengal by April 7 and return to Kolkata on the morning of April 8. Soon after her arrival, she is likely to begin the procession towards the Survey Building, where she will formally submit her nomination papers as a Trinamool Congress candidate.
The nomination timeline for the elections is progressing in phases. For the second phase, candidates must submit their nominations by April 9, with scrutiny scheduled for April 10. Withdrawal of nominations for this phase will be allowed until April 13. Meanwhile, for the first phase, the last date for filing nominations is April 6, scrutiny will conclude on April 7, and withdrawal is permitted till April 9.
With the elections approaching, political activity has intensified across the state. Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee are actively campaigning across districts, focusing on development initiatives and targeting the BJP. The Trinamool Congress has also planned outreach efforts involving various communities, as part of its broader electoral strategy ahead of the polls.
