Amit Shah says will stay for 15 days in Bengal, seeks public support to defeat Mamata in Bhawanipore

Senior BJP leader Amit Shah on Wednesday announced that he would stay in West Bengal for 15 days during the election period, intensifying the party’s campaign in the poll-bound state. Addressing supporters, Shah claimed that after touring the state, he sensed a strong public mood for change, asserting that “everywhere there is one voice — say bye-bye to the Mamata government.”

Sharpening his attack on the ruling dispensation led by Mamata Banerjee, Shah alleged that Bengal is facing issues such as extortion, law and order concerns, and corruption. He further claimed that women are unsafe and that the state’s demographic balance is changing, adding that people are troubled by incidents of violence. Emphasising governance, he said Bengal now seeks the leadership of Narendra Modi and is ready for a “Sonar Bangla” envisioned by Rabindranath Tagore.

Focusing on electoral strategy, Shah highlighted the significance of Bhabanipur, stating that victory there would signal broader change across Bengal. He expressed confidence in BJP’s prospects, projecting a tally of 170 seats and asserting that leaders like Suvendu Adhikari are capable of defeating key opponents. Shah also extended early congratulations to party candidates, reiterating that the BJP aims not only to defeat the Trinamool Congress but to decisively unseat it from power in the state.
