In a chilling case from Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh, a 35-year-old woman allegedly killed her 12-year-old daughter with the help of her lover and a ‘tantrik’, believing the act would cure her son’s illness. Police said the accused carried out the crime after being advised that a “sacrifice” would resolve the boy’s mental and physical health issues and family problems.
According to investigators, the incident took place on March 24 during Navratri. The woman, who frequently consulted the ‘tantrik’, was reportedly told that sacrificing her daughter would be the “most auspicious” way to ensure her son’s recovery. Acting on this belief, the woman and her accomplice allegedly killed the child inside their home.
After the murder, the accused buried the body in a garden and attempted to mislead investigators by claiming the girl had been raped. However, post-mortem and forensic findings did not support that claim, leading police to uncover the actual sequence of events during the probe.
Police have arrested all three accused and launched a detailed investigation. Officials said the woman and her lover had been in a relationship for several years, and further aspects of the case, including possible past offences, are being examined.
