A massive fire broke out early Friday morning at a clothing shop in Kabiraj Gali of Nath Bazar under Andal police station in Paschim Bardhaman, triggering panic in the locality. The blaze, which started in the early hours, rapidly intensified and spread, making it difficult to control as thick smoke engulfed the surrounding area.
Upon receiving information, Andal police and multiple fire department teams rushed to the spot and began firefighting operations. Despite sustained efforts, officials faced significant challenges in containing the flames due to the intensity of the fire and the congested market area, which complicated access and control measures.
Local residents said the fire was first noticed around 4 am, prompting alarm among nearby shopkeepers and residents. While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, initial suspicions point towards a possible short circuit or deliberate sabotage. Authorities are expected to conduct a detailed investigation once the situation is fully brought under control.
