Tension in Cooch Behar after bomb explodes near TMC leader’s residence, 3 arrested

A bomb explosion occurred near the residence of Suchismita Deb Sharma, head of the Cooch Behar district unit of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), late Sunday night in the Dhuluwabari area of Cooch Behar 1 block. Two bombs detonated while a third failed to explode and was recovered by the police the same night. The TMC has alleged BJP involvement in the attack, raising political tensions in the area.

Following the explosion, clashes erupted in the Lilua Dagar Bagan locality, leaving several people injured. Eyewitnesses reported scuffles between two groups, some involving weapons, which led to further unrest. A large contingent of police, along with central forces, was deployed to restore order and secure the area.

Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the incident. Authorities are investigating the matter thoroughly, including the source of the explosives and the sequence of events leading up to the attack.
