More trouble for Mamata, sedition complaint filed over "controversial comment" against India
In a significant relief for millions of households, the central government has increased the subsidy under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana from ₹200 to ₹300 per LPG cylinder. The revised subsidy will be applicable for up to 12 cylinders per year, with the amount directly credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts, ensuring timely and transparent delivery of benefits.
The scheme, aimed at providing clean cooking fuel to economically weaker sections, continues to play a crucial role in supporting low-income households. With the latest hike, beneficiaries will now receive ₹300 per cylinder, easing the financial burden associated with purchasing LPG. The direct benefit transfer mechanism ensures that the subsidy reaches eligible users without intermediaries.
Eligibility under the scheme includes women from SC, ST, and OBC categories, as well as economically weaker tribal communities. Applicants must be women aged 18 years or above. The scheme primarily targets households that lack access to clean cooking fuel, helping improve health conditions and reduce reliance on traditional fuels.
Applicants can apply for the scheme through the official portal by registering, selecting a preferred oil company such as Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and choosing the Ujjwala 2.0 new connection option. After submitting personal, family, and bank details, applicants receive a reference number, which must be used to complete the process at the nearest gas agency.
