A horrific road accident during the morning rush hour in Salt Lake Sector 5 claimed the life of a young female IT professional on Tuesday. The deceased, identified as Kiran Mishra, was a resident of Burdwan who lived in a rented accommodation in Keshtopur for her job. The tragedy unfolded right in front of the RS Software building, a prominent landmark in the tech hub, sending shockwaves through the local commuting community.
Kiran usually commuted to work with her boyfriend, who worked in a neighboring office. However, on this fateful morning, her boyfriend reportedly woke up late, prompting Kiran to book an app-based bike taxi to reach her office on time. As the bike reached the RS Software intersection, a speeding government bus operating on the Karunamoyee-Ghatal route rammed into the two-wheeler from behind. The impact threw Kiran off the bike, resulting in severe internal injuries.
Local bystanders and police personnel rushed Kiran to Bidhannagar Sub-divisional Hospital, but doctors tragically declared her dead upon arrival. The Electronic Complex Police Station acted swiftly, seizing the offending government bus and arresting the driver. Initial medical reports suggest that while there were few external marks, the internal trauma caused by the fall was fatal.
