Australian cricketer David Warner arrested for drunk driving in Sydney

David Warner has been arrested and charged with drunk driving in Sydney after failing a breath test, with reports indicating his blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit. The incident took place late on Sunday in Maroubra, where police were conducting random breath testing.

According to authorities, Warner had stopped his vehicle before reaching the testing site, prompting officers to approach him. A roadside breath test returned a positive result, following which he was taken to a police station where a reading of 0.1 was recorded.

Despite the arrest, Warner has returned to participate in the Pakistan Super League. However, the legal proceedings remain ongoing, and he is scheduled to appear before a court in May in connection with the case.

The 39-year-old had retired from international cricket in 2024 and has since been involved in franchise leagues and media roles. His retirement had come shortly before Australia’s ODI series against the West Indies, marking the end of his international career.
