Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
Anant Ambani has announced a total contribution of ₹18 crore towards temple infrastructure development and animal welfare initiatives in Kerala, marking a significant push for preservation of religious heritage and care for temple elephants. The funding includes ₹6 crore in donations to key temples and a ₹12 crore commitment for restoration work.
During his visit to the historic Rajrajeshwaram Temple on April 2, Ambani made traditional offerings and handed over financial support for ongoing renovation efforts. A major portion of the pledged amount will be used to restore the East Gopuram, an ancient structure of architectural and archaeological importance that has remained in disrepair for over two centuries. The initiative also includes improvements in infrastructure and facilities for devotees.
Earlier the same day, Ambani visited Guruvayur Temple, where he offered prayers and contributed funds to the temple trust. Alongside financial donations, he outlined plans to support welfare initiatives for temple elephants, focusing on humane care and long-term sustainability.
These initiatives are aligned with his broader efforts under Vantara, which aims to promote scientific and compassionate care for animals. Proposed measures include the development of dedicated elephant healthcare facilities, chain-free shelters, and improved living conditions for elephants associated with temple traditions.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambani emphasized the importance of preserving India’s spiritual and cultural heritage. He highlighted that temples are not just places of worship but institutions that foster community, compassion, and a connection with nature, adding that efforts will continue to enhance both devotee experience and animal welfare.
