Water supply across large parts of Howrah and Bally will remain suspended on Friday evening due to essential maintenance and infrastructure work being carried out by the civic authorities. The disruption, scheduled from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM, is linked to valve replacement work at the Tikiapara Underground Reservoir, along with auxiliary work at the Padmapukur Water Project and pipeline repair on Kona Expressway.
The suspension will affect all wards under the Howrah Municipal Corporation, covering wards 1 to 50, as well as wards 28 to 35 under Bally Municipality. While authorities have indicated that supply may resume within a few hours in select pockets, the majority of affected areas are expected to experience disruption until the following morning.
Officials have stated that normal water supply across most areas is likely to be restored from 6:00 AM on Saturday, April 11. The civic body has expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and urged residents to make necessary arrangements in advance, citing the work as essential for improving the overall water distribution system.
