No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
In a significant crackdown, police recovered three firearms and two cartridges from the residence of an alleged ISF activist in the Raghunathpur Khalpar area of Bhangar. The raid was conducted by officials of the North Kashipur Police Station following specific intelligence inputs early in the morning.
The accused, identified as Habibur Rahman Molla, also known as ‘Kancha’, had reportedly been under surveillance for some time. Acting on a tip-off, police launched the operation as soon as he entered his house, leading to the recovery of the weapons from the premises. The area falls under the Bhogali-1 Gram Panchayat region. Family members of the accused claimed ignorance about the origin of the firearms and cartridges. His wife stated she was unaware of the weapons but confirmed his participation in activities of the Indian Secular Front, while his mother also denied knowledge of the source of the arms, describing him as an active party worker.
According to police sources, Molla is suspected of being involved in illegal arms supply across multiple locations. Investigators have launched a detailed probe to trace the origin of the seized weapons and identify possible distribution networks. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
