Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
A shocking incident of robbery under the guise of religious trust has surfaced in the Chapra area of Nadia district, where a group posing as saints allegedly drugged five members of a family and looted valuables from their home. The victims are currently undergoing treatment at Shaktinagar District Hospital.
According to local sources, the accused had attended a religious gathering in the area before visiting the residence of the victims. Under the pretext of offering herbal remedies for health and well-being, they allegedly administered a substance that rendered the family members unconscious within minutes. The victims later reported being unable to recall the sequence of events clearly. Family members alleged that once the victims lost consciousness, the accused took advantage of the situation and fled with gold ornaments and cash from the house. The stolen items reportedly included necklaces, earrings, bangles, and other valuables kept inside the residence. The incident came to light when a relative found the victims lying unconscious, some reportedly foaming at the mouth.
Police have launched an investigation into the case, focusing on the identities and movements of the suspects. Locals have expressed concern over the misuse of religious trust to commit such crimes, especially at a time when security arrangements have been heightened ahead of elections.
